Dr. Kathleen Scherf: Academic Lead for TRU Programs in Europe

Dr. Kathleen Scherf, a senior full professor, has worked with various reputed universities such as Thompson Rivers University, University of New Brunswick, and University of Calgary, and has published numerous books and papers on diverse topics.

Dr. Kathleen, an academician in English and Communications has taught a wide range of areas including English, Communications, Tourism Management, Educational Leadership, Cultural Studies, and Theatre Arts.

Diversity in Roles

Dr. Kathleen Scherf started working as a sessional lecturer with Department of English at the University of British Columbia in 1988. She moved to the University of New Brunswick as an assistant professor in 1989, where she rose through the ranks to full professor and associate dean of arts. After nine years at the University of Calgary as Dean of Communication and Culture, she moved to Thompson Rivers University as President and Vice-Chancellor in 2008. Today, she leads TRU’s activities in Europe, building double degrees, academic partnerships, and research collaborations. Throughout her career, she has received many awards for excellence and hard work. She is recognized for performing diverse roles with great dedication and persistence.  She has given numerous seminars on leadership development and her scholarship papers are recognized worldwide. As well, Dr. Kathleen Scherf is a versatile professional who has also worked as an actor, director, and producer in theatre. She has been active in raising money for charity.

Dr. Kathleen Scherf is a charismatic and lively communicator. She is known to perform her duties diligently. Her ability to lead teams to develop a common vision, devise strategic plans, and to succeed in reaching milestones has resulted in many new degrees and courses. Her unique way of teaching and presentation of work is what sets her apart from her colleagues.
